Welcome Grace and Peace Mission to Orissa

An Orphanage in the Jungle Offers Hope. . .

They look to someone to save them from hunger. Orphans in the state of Orissa in India are victims of an impoverished society. They did not choose to be born into these circumstances, nor can they always look to adults in their own communities for help, when they themselves suffer as well.

There is hope in the jungle, hope that removes the hunger and replaces it with hope. Hunger is the most extreme form of poverty, where children cannot afford or are denied their most basic need for food.

Hunger manifests itself in many ways other than starvation and famine. Most orphans who battle hunger deal with chronic undernourishment and vitamin or mineral deficiencies, which result in many medical maladies.

Many areas of India, like the State of Orissa, who battle hunger often lack the social safety nets such as soup kitchens, food programs, and school meals. When an orphan is hungry, many times there is nowhere to turn for help.

The truth is, many orphans do not know where their next meal will come from. Hunger may take it’s insidious toll on these beautiful children, but it doesn’t have to.

One orphanage, in the heart of the Orissan Jungles, is the critical link between these destitute orphans, daily nutrition and a safe place to live.
